Top 6 Unmissable Egyptian Sights

Egypt is world-renowned for its ancient monuments that document some of the most impressive achievements made by early civilisation. It’s undebatable that there is plenty to be seen and done when visiting Egypt, but what exactly should you prioritise when visiting this stunning destination? Here are Classic Holiday’s top seven must-see locations for your Egyptian experience.

Giza Necropolis

The Pyramids of Giza are some of the most iconic landmarks in the world and are likely to be the first image you see when you imagine Egypt. However, it’s amazing how many tourists pass up a visit to these awe-inspiring landmarks in order to stay by the pool. The Pyramids are a must-see historical sight for anyone visiting Egypt. You won’t catch a view like this anywhere else in the world, so make some time to visit these unique relics of human history.

Red Sea Reef

There’s as much to see underwater as there is on the ground in Egypt due to the stunning Red Sea Reef. Often voted one of the most beautiful destinations in the world to go diving, the coast is a must go for any tourist. The waters in the Red Sea are famous for their incredibly high visibility, so it will be easy for you to catch a glimpse of the exotic seascapes Egypt has to offer. Get your swimming gear and take a dive or snorkel during your stay – you won’t regret it.

River Nile Cruise

No visit to Egypt is complete without a River Nile Cruise. The river has been an integral part of Egypt’s history since ancient times. This means there is no better way to experience Egyptian history than to follow the meandering course of the Nile. Most cruises will stop off at Egypt’s most famous towns along the way, giving you the opportunity to explore urban Egyptian life. You may even have the opportunity to take a Felucca sail boat. This adventurous and authentic way to travel has been used on the Nile for thousands of years. Quietly sailing down one of the world’s most famous rivers is sure to make you feel relaxed and fulfilled simultaneously.

Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is situated near Luxor, in a valley where tombs were constructed for nearly 500 years.  These 16th to 11th century tombs were constructed for the Egyptian kings as well as privileged noblemen of the New Kingdom. There’re approximately 63 tombs and chambers ranging in size and complexity. This is a great place to see decorated scenes of Egyptian mythology that give clues to ancient beliefs and rituals of the period.

Abu Simbel

These stunning twin temples are carved into the mountainside near the western bank of Lake Nasser. They were created during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses The Great in the 13th century BC. They were created as a lasting monument to Ramesses himself and his queen Nefertari. The huge sand colour sculptures are truly something to behold and emanate ancient Egyptian history. No photo will do these stunning views justice, so make sure you go and see for yourself.

Karnak

The largest religious site ever built, Karnak represents the combined achievement of multiple generations of Egyptian builders and architects. The visually stunning destination consists of three main temples, some smaller enclosed temples and several outer temples that are located north of Luxor. Spend hours wandering dramatic columns engraved with both hieroglyphics and ancient artwork. You’re sure to fill your camera memory up with plenty of photographs from this amazing scene.

Nice blog. Thanks for sharing with us such useful information. Egypt is such a fascinating place for tourist. The Nile River is the most part of seeing sights for the tourist. The beauty of Egypt is the Nile Cruise. I have gone there in last month and enjoyed a lot with my friends. The best place was for me diving at Red sea Peninsula in the morning, seven wonders in Egypt. Explored with Complete Egypt. Keep blogging.
