Egypt Visa Helper

Egypt visa helper for Classic Holidays guests

Most Classic Holidays guests can obtain a tourist visa on arrival in Egypt from our local airport representatives.
Some itineraries, especially those that involve a connecting flight via Cairo, we recommend you arrange an Egypt eVisa in advance.
This page includes a simple visa helper tool plus clear explanations to help you understand which option is likely to apply to you.

Start here: check your visa guidance

Answer three quick questions about your passport, your arrival airport in Egypt and whether you are flying direct or via Cairo.
The tool will then show whether you will usually obtain a visa on arrival with Classic Holidays assistance, or whether you should apply for an Egypt eVisa before you travel.

Egypt visa helper

This guide explains whether you will normally obtain your Egypt tourist visa on arrival from our airport representative, who arranges and places the visa sticker directly into your passport, or whether arranging an eVisa in advance is recommended.

This guidance applies only to passport holders of: UK, EU members, USA, Australia, Georgia, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Macedonia and the Republic of Korea. Other nationalities should contact their local Egyptian embassy or consulate for visa advice.

Your visa options

This tool is a general guide only. Egypt visa rules can change and different nationalities may have different options. Always follow your Classic Holidays travel documents, the official Egypt eVisa website and your own government travel advice.

  • United States of America (USA)
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Japan
  • New Zealand

Visa on arrival with Classic Holidays meet and greet

If you are flying direct to Cairo, Luxor or Hurghada without a transit in Cairo, many Classic Holidays guests obtain a tourist visa on arrival at the airport in Egypt.

On arrival in Egypt (except for transit clients), you will be met by a Classic Holidays representative who has security clearance to be on the airside of passport control in the immigration hall. You can purchase your visa directly from the Classic Holidays representative for £25.00 per person, payable in cash in British pounds sterling. They will place the visa sticker directly into your passport, allowing a faster transition through the airport terminal building before you continue to baggage reclaim and your transfer.

You do not usually need to arrange an Egypt eVisa in advance for these direct flight itineraries, although you may choose to apply online if you prefer to have everything in place before you travel.

Transit via Cairo and when an eVisa is required

If you are travelling with a connecting flight via Cairo on the way to your final airport in Egypt, you will normally be treated as a transit passenger.
For Classic Holidays guests travelling in transit via Cairo we recommend you arrange your Egypt visa in advance instead of relying on visa on arrival.

For these itineraries you should apply for an Egypt eVisa online using the official eVisa website.
You may see visa kiosks in the transit area at Cairo Airport, however arranging the eVisa in advance is strongly recommended to avoid delays or confusion while you are connecting to your next flight.

Your Classic Holidays Egypt Travel Guide contains the host and accommodation information you will need for your eVisa form.

Passport image and file size help

If you are applying for an Egypt eVisa you will usually need to upload a clear image of the information page of your passport that is under 1 MB in size.
Larger files are often rejected by the online portal, which can be frustrating when you are trying to submit your application.

To make this easier, Classic Holidays provides a free passport image resizer that runs entirely in your browser.
You can use it to reduce the file size of a scan or photo of your passport page before you upload it: Passport photo resizer for Egypt eVisa and worldwide visa applications

Host information

When you complete your Egypt eVisa application you are usually asked for details of your host in Egypt.
If you have booked with Classic Holidays the correct details are shown in your Egypt Travel Guide.

Please use the information from your Travel Guide rather than guessing or copying details from other websites.
If you cannot find your guide or you are unsure which details to enter for your particular itinerary, please contact us and we will be happy to confirm the information you need.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need an eVisa if I am eligible for visa on arrival?

If you are flying direct to Cairo, Luxor or Hurghada without a transit in Cairo, many guests simply obtain a visa on arrival.
Some people still prefer to apply for an eVisa in advance for peace of mind.
This is a personal choice.

When should I apply for an Egypt eVisa?

As online systems can occasionally be busy and processing times can vary, it is sensible to apply at least seven days before you travel, and earlier if possible.
Always follow the timing guidance on the official eVisa website and your own government travel advice.

What if my passport nationality is not listed?

The visa helper on this page is designed for guests who hold passports from the United Kingdom, EU member countries, USA, Australia, Georgia, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Macedonia or the Republic of Korea.
If you hold a different passport, please contact your local Egyptian embassy or consulate and check the official Egypt eVisa website and your own government travel advice for visa requirements.
Classic Holidays can still assist with questions about your booking, but we cannot confirm visa rules for every nationality.
