The Chedi El Gouna brings a quieter register of luxury to Egypt’s Red Sea coast. The first Egyptian member of The Leading Hotels of the World, this 82-room hideaway from the GHM stable pairs the serene, Asian-inspired hospitality the brand is celebrated for with the easy warmth of El Gouna, the lagoon town that has become the most stylish address on the Red Sea.
Built into a gentle hillside above its own stretch of beach, the hotel keeps things beautifully understated: earth tones, natural materials and clean lines that let the sea views do the talking. Days drift between tropical-style pools, an Asian-influenced spa with traditional hammams, and a rooftop Japanese restaurant looking out across the water.
This is a hotel for travellers who prefer calm over clamour, yet downtown El Gouna and the restaurants and boutiques of Abu Tig Marina are only minutes away whenever you feel like rejoining the world.

The Chedi El Gouna keeps its collection deliberately small: 82 rooms and suites arranged across the hillside and gardens, each one rendered in soothing earth tones with natural materials, premium Egyptian cotton linen and sleek, contemporary furnishings. Smart digital room controls let you set lighting moods or signal do not disturb at the touch of a button, while rain showers, Nespresso machines, smart TVs and 24-hour in-room dining take care of the practicalities. Garden view, sea view, beachfront, accessible and connecting options mean there is a fit for most parties.
The entry point is anything but basic. At 35 to 44 square metres with a balcony overlooking the gardens, the Deluxe Room features ethereal bamboo closet doors around the sleeping area and can connect to an adjoining suite for families travelling together.
A 35 square metre room for two with a private terrace facing the Red Sea. Customisable lighting moods and smart controls add a quietly clever touch to the pared-back interiors.
The same bright, earth-toned interiors and private terrace, positioned at the front of the resort so the beach and sea are your immediate outlook.
At 64 square metres and sleeping up to three guests, the garden-facing Junior Suite adds genuine space to spread out, with French windows, a Bluetooth speaker and a rain shower.
The same generous 64 square metre layout, set on the hilltop so the suite looks out over the Red Sea, with a terrace or French windows depending on location.
The signature suite measures 78 square metres for up to three guests, with a terrace and patio access and the spa just moments away. The pick of the house for a special occasion.

The hotel sits beside downtown El Gouna on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, around 26 kilometres and roughly half an hour’s drive from Hurghada International Airport. El Gouna itself is one of the Red Sea’s most distinctive resort towns: ten kilometres of coastline laced with turquoise lagoons and some twenty islands, connected by little bridges and boats, with a relaxed, well-kept atmosphere that feels closer to the Mediterranean than a conventional resort strip.
The restaurants, cafes and boutiques of Abu Tig Marina are just minutes from the hotel, with yachts bobbing along the promenade and a lively evening scene. The town is also home to golf courses, while the Red Sea provides superb diving, snorkelling and some of the best kitesurfing conditions in the world. Getting around is half the fun: tuk-tuks and water taxis shuttle between the marina, downtown and the beaches.
For a dose of ancient Egypt, excursions can be arranged to Luxor, home of the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple, while Hurghada’s old town and bazaars lie a short drive down the coast.

Life at The Chedi El Gouna revolves around the water. Tropical-style pools are framed by palms and sun terraces, while the hotel’s private beach offers soft sand, calm swimming and attentive service from The Beach House. Water sports and boat trips on the Red Sea are easily arranged, and the hotel’s hillside setting means many of its spaces enjoy lovely views over the sea.
The Spa at The Chedi El Gouna is a destination in its own right, designed with beautiful Asian influences and dedicated to proper, unhurried wellness. Treatments span massage, luxury hammam rituals, detoxifying skin treatments and beauty therapies.
Service is where the hotel really earns its reputation. Staff are repeatedly singled out by guests for their warmth and professionalism, and with only 82 rooms the hotel never feels crowded, even in high season.

Dining at The Chedi El Gouna is intimate by design, with a handful of venues that each do their thing exceptionally well. Classic Holidays offers the hotel on a half board basis, so your breakfast and evening meal are taken care of, leaving lunchtimes free for the beach or an amble along Abu Tig Marina.
The heart of the hotel’s dining, overlooking the waters of the Red Sea with both indoor and outdoor seating. Mornings bring a fresh, generous breakfast spread, while evenings showcase creative takes on local and international cuisine in a refined, relaxed setting.
The showpiece. Set on a rooftop terrace with sensational views over the sea, Nihon serves a vibrant menu of fine Japanese and pan-Asian cuisine. Time your table for sunset and it becomes one of El Gouna’s most memorable evenings.
Serving both the beach and pool areas through the day, The Beach House offers a full a la carte menu of Mediterranean plates, fresh salads, burgers and ciabatta sandwiches, often with live music, in a barefoot-smart atmosphere.
Adjacent to the lobby, this intimate bar is the spot for a pre-dinner aperitif or a nightcap, with an extensive drinks selection and a curated humidor of cigars sourced from around the world.
In-room dining is available around the clock, bringing the restaurant experience to your own terrace, and the buzzing restaurant scene of downtown El Gouna and the marina is minutes away should you fancy a change.
