Food is a genuine strength here, built around three named venues and three bars and lounges rather than one big buffet hall, and the hotel is fully licensed.
Breakfast, included on both boards, is a wide buffet in Park Food Hall with live cooking stations, eggs and pancakes made to order, and Egyptian favourites such as falafel alongside the continental and hot tables. The pool is a proper centrepiece: a large, curving outdoor pool set in landscaped gardens, promoted by the hotel as heated for year round swimming, with a generous lounger terrace, the Pool Bar for juices and light bites, and a separate shallow pool for children. On clear days the terrace looks towards the Pyramids.
Sun loungers wrap the water, towels are provided, and the surrounding development is low rise, so the terrace keeps its light for most of the day. After dark the gardens are at their most atmospheric from the open air Plaza lounge.
Be realistic about the seasons. Cairo summers are hot and made for the water, while winter days are mild and better spent sightseeing, with the sauna waiting afterwards. This is a city base with a very good pool rather than a swim holiday.
The spa runs seven treatment rooms alongside a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and a traditional hammam, with a menu spanning Swedish, Thai and deep tissue massage plus facials and rituals for two. Treatments generally run from morning until around 10pm, and the Spa Rooms upstairs extend the idea with private in room saunas and jetted tubs.
The 24 hour StayFit gym covers cardio kit and free weights, useful when jet lag has you wide awake at odd hours, and a beauty and hairdressing salon on site takes care of special evenings.
