Egypt’s first adults only resort sits on its own sheltered lagoon in the centre of Hurghada, pairing calm, grown up days by the Red Sea with the city’s cafes, souk and marina right on the doorstep.
Opened in 2002 as the founding hotel of the SUNRISE Resorts and Cruises family, this was the first resort in Egypt to go adults only, and the formula has been polished ever since. Guests must be 16 or over, there is no mini disco, and the daily rhythm is set entirely by adults: a long breakfast, snorkelling straight off the beach, an afternoon read on the island sun deck, then cocktails as the lights of Hurghada come on around the bay.
The setting is what makes it. A private, purpose built lagoon keeps the sea calm and swimmable even on breezy days, a little bridge crosses to an island of sun loungers at its centre, and the resort rises around the water so that most of its 383 rooms look straight out over the Red Sea. Step through the gate and you are on Sheraton Road in the Sakkala district, with shops and restaurants immediately outside and Hurghada Marina a short stroll or a few minutes by taxi.
Few Red Sea hotels give you proper resort facilities and a real city on the doorstep; here you get both. Add an all inclusive that genuinely runs around the clock, a main pool and outdoor jacuzzi heated through the winter, six restaurants, and some of the easiest shore snorkelling in central Hurghada, and it is easy to see why so many of our customers go back. Rooms have been refreshed in phases, most recently through 2024 and 2025.

Eight categories spread across 383 rooms, and the mix is unusually generous with sea views: 163 of the entry level Standard Rooms face the water, as do all the Superior, Deluxe and Premium Rooms and the suites. Sizes below are approximate, and every room has a balcony, terrace or French window.

The main pool, around 300 m² with roughly 120 loungers around it, sits at the heart of the resort and is heated through the winter, as is the outdoor jacuzzi beside it. Depths run 1.2 to 1.6 metres, and this is the sociable end of the resort, with aqua aerobics and games through the day. When you want quiet, the beach and the lagoon island are a short stroll away.
A private, sheltered lagoon is the resort’s signature. Because the water is protected from the open sea it stays calm and safely swimmable even when the wind gets up, which is a genuine advantage in Hurghada where breezy afternoons are common. Around 500 sun loungers line the sand, and a wooden bridge crosses to a small island sun deck in the middle of the water, the spot we would claim early with a good book.
The lagoon holds a surprising amount of resident marine life, and our customers regularly come home talking about shoals of fish, a moray eel and even a turtle spotted near the bridge. You can snorkel here in complete calm, steps from your lounger, which makes it one of the easiest places on the coast to try it for the first time.
The spa and wellness centre is open 9am to 7pm and covers the classics properly: a sauna, steam bath, jacuzzi, a traditional Turkish bath, and massage and treatment rooms. Treatments and thermal facilities are chargeable and popular, so book your slots early in the week.
The gym is free of charge, open 9am to 7pm and staffed, and the daily programme leans nicely grown up: aerobics and aqua aerobics, plus yoga, tai chi and sunset meditation sessions by the water. A beauty salon and barber (chargeable) handles manicures, facials and hair styling, handy before a night out on the marina.
Between the free gym, the calm lagoon swimming and the lighter menus at Roots, this is an easy place to come home feeling better than you left, which is not something we say about every all inclusive on this coast.
