Sunrise Tucana Resort Grand Select brings a polished, contemporary take on the Red Sea beach holiday to the sands of Makadi Bay. Set on its own private beach along this sheltered stretch of coast south of Hurghada, the resort pairs sleek, light-filled architecture with the elevated service of Sunrise’s premium Grand Select tier.
Stay here on our all inclusive basis and the resort opens up generously: a la carte dining across several restaurants, bars serving drinks around the clock, pools heated through the cooler months and entertainment that runs from morning until late. Book a suite and you join the Posh Club, adding butler service, a private pool and lounge, and premium drinks to the package.
Whether you are toasting an anniversary from a swim-up suite or keeping children happy between the kids’ club and the nearby aqua park, Tucana balances grown-up glamour with easy family appeal.

Tucana’s accommodation is heavily weighted towards suites, which tells you a great deal about the resort’s ambitions. Interiors are contemporary and calm, with cool neutral tones, bathrobes, an LED television, free Wi-Fi and a minibar restocked daily as part of your all inclusive stay, while room service runs around the clock.
The entry point is the Superior Room at a comfortable 35 square metres, a well-judged base for couples, while the Deluxe Room stretches to around 40 square metres for a little more breathing space.
Book any suite and you become a member of the Posh Club, the resort’s VIP tier. The Junior Garden Suite, at 43 square metres, opens onto the gardens; the Junior Jacuzzi Suite adds a jacuzzi of your own; and the Junior Swim-Up Suite lets you slip from your terrace straight into the water. The Lexi Suite offers a similar 43 square metre footprint.
The Tucana Suites range from around 50 to 67 square metres and come in three forms, with a private jacuzzi, a pool, or both. At the top of the range, the Executive Suites measure up to 100 square metres, again in jacuzzi, pool or pool-and-jacuzzi versions, and suit couples or families who want serious space and privacy.
The 280 square metre Royal Villa is the resort’s flagship, a residence in its own right for those who want Tucana entirely on their own terms.
Suite and villa guests enjoy butler service, a sparkling wine welcome, complimentary airport transfers and a 24-hour concierge, along with express check-in and check-out, with early arrival and late departure subject to availability. Membership also unlocks a private pool, an exclusive lounge and an upgraded drinks list, with premium labels served around the clock and imported brands from midday until midnight.

Makadi Bay is one of the Red Sea’s most polished resort enclaves, a sheltered, sandy bay on the coast road between Hurghada and Safaga, around 30 kilometres south of Hurghada itself. The bay was made for an easy beach holiday: calm, clear water, near-guaranteed sunshine and some of Egypt’s finest reefs within easy reach by boat, which makes it a favourite with snorkellers and divers.
The resort puts you right on the bay, with a large aqua park a short hop away and included in your all inclusive stay. Golfers can tee off at the Madinat Makadi golf course around ten minutes’ drive from the resort, while boat trips head out to the reefs and islands offshore.
When you fancy a change of scene, Hurghada is around 40 minutes away, with its marina promenade, restaurants and the old souk quarter of El Dahar. Further afield, Luxor’s temples and the Valley of the Kings are within day-trip range, one of the most rewarding excursions in Egypt. Hurghada International Airport is roughly 32 kilometres from the resort, a transfer of around 35 minutes, and complimentary for Posh Club suite guests.

Tucana’s grounds run down to a private, sandy beach on the calm curve of Makadi Bay, with loungers, parasols and towels all provided. Three swimming pools anchor the resort, heated through the cooler winter months: two main pools plus a quieter pool reserved for Posh Club suite guests, with a children’s pool for younger swimmers.
Free Wi-Fi covers the resort, room service is available 24 hours a day and babysitting can be arranged on request, so the practicalities are as well looked after as the indulgences.

All inclusive at Grand Select level is a long way from the usual single-buffet routine. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are taken across the resort’s restaurants, including a la carte dining, with snacks through the day, drinks served around the clock and your minibar restocked daily. Heading out on an excursion? The kitchen will even pack you a lunch box so you do not miss out. It is the kind of set-up that rewards a longer stay, because you can eat somewhere different almost every evening.
Lucina is the resort’s international restaurant and the natural anchor of the day, serving a wide-ranging menu from breakfast onwards. Evenings are where Tucana really shows off: Gaia cooks Italian favourites, Yades celebrates Greece and comes with its own bar attached, Felucca is the seafood house for dinner with a sense of occasion, and the Bedouin Village serves Arabian dishes in a suitably atmospheric setting. Suite and villa guests can also dine in the Posh Club Lounge, the private restaurant reserved for members.
The bar list is just as generous. The Oasis Pool Bar keeps you refreshed without leaving your lounger, while Eos, Indigo, Gitano, Anjum and Cohiba each bring their own mood as the evening unfolds, from relaxed lounge sessions to late-night cocktails. One bar is kept for adults only, ideal for a quiet nightcap away from the family bustle. Local-brand spirits, beers, wines and soft drinks are included at all hours on your all inclusive, while Posh Club members enjoy premium pours around the clock, with imported labels served from midday until midnight.
