In our view this is one of the strongest adults only buys on this stretch of the Red Sea, and the cooking draws the kind of praise we rarely see for an all inclusive. Two things to know before you book. The pace is deliberately gentle, so if you want big club nights you will need the odd taxi to Hurghada Marina, around half an hour away. And the à la carte tables are booked at screens in the lobby, so reserve your favourite kitchens soon after you arrive.

Every room and suite comes with a private balcony or terrace, so wherever you land in the resort there is somewhere to take your first coffee as the sun comes up over the bay. Interiors are contemporary and uncluttered, with king size or twin beds, air conditioning, a satellite LCD television, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and free WiFi throughout. Two outdoor freshwater pools anchor the resort, and both are kept warm through the cooler months, which is exactly what you want from Red Sea winter sun. The main pool sits at the social heart of the resort with the Poolside Bar on hand, while a second, quieter relax pool is set aside for lengths, floating and not much else. Because the resort is adults only, neither ever descends into splash chaos, and loungers are not the daily battleground they can be elsewhere.

The private beach is the resort’s trump card, a well kept stretch of golden sand on one of the calmest, most sheltered bays on this coast, reached across a palm lined promenade. Loungers and shade are laid on, the entry is gentle and sandy, and the water stays shallow and safe for roughly the first fifty metres, which makes it as good for a lazy float as for proper swimming. Regular guests tell us it is the best kept sand in Sahl Hasheesh, and we would not argue.
You do not need a boat here. Coral begins in the shallows to the left of the beach, a fuller reef lies a little further out, and the old jetty to the right shelters a surprising variety of fish. The bay’s famous sunken city, a collection of statues submerged just offshore as a purpose built snorkel site, sits near the Old Town marina a short distance along the shore, and glass bottom boat and submarine style trips run from the marina for anyone who prefers to stay dry. Diving and snorkelling excursions further afield are easily arranged.
The spa and wellness centre is where the resort’s unhurried philosophy comes into its own, with a menu that blends Eastern and Western treatments and therapists who take their time. The signature treatment is a traditional Egyptian massage using warm, herb filled pouches and almond oil, a style once reserved for royalty, and couples treatment rooms mean you can book side by side.
Our customers tell us the hammam is the highlight, and at its best mid afternoon when the beach is at full glare. Treatments are payable locally and the best slots go quickly, so book a day or so ahead once you arrive. The gym is a proper one rather than a token gesture, with treadmills, bikes and free weights kept current.
