The range starts with Superior rooms of around 38 square metres, already a fair size for Sharm, then climbs through the sea view Deluxe rooms and proper suites to villa accommodation in its own corner of the grounds, so couples, groups of friends and multigenerational parties can all find a sensible fit. Every category comes with a balcony or terrace, air conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi, a minibar and tea and coffee making facilities, and most rooms take two adults comfortably with third bed options in several categories.

Four adult only pools give the resort its rhythm, and because there are no children splashing about, each keeps its intended character. The lagoon style pool is the centrepiece, a freshwater sweep threaded with planted islands and ringed by day beds. Let us be straight about the geography, because it is the one thing to understand before you book.The resort runs straight down to its own beach on Nabq Bay, so you can walk from your room to the sand through the gardens. Once there you have golden sand, plenty of loungers, lifeguards on duty and the Beach Grill serving drinks from 10am to 5pm.
The reason Nabq Bay wins loyal repeat visitors is under the water. A long jetty, around 120 metres, walks you out over the coral shelf to a ladder into deeper, clearer water, so you drop straight onto the reef without scrambling over rock. Parrotfish, butterflyfish and shoals of sergeant majors are everyday sightings, and even non swimmers can wander the boards and watch fish in the shallows. The bay looks out towards Tiran Island, and the protected Nabq area with its mangroves begins just up the coast, which is why this stretch of sea stays so clean.
Diving is easy to organise, with dive centres in Nabq Bay running guided dives and courses, and day boats head out to the Strait of Tiran and Ras Mohammed National Park, two of the Red Sea’s best loved dive grounds. We can pre book snorkelling and diving excursions with licensed operators before you travel.
Cleo Spa handles the pampering, and unusually for Egypt some of it is free. Sauna and steam sessions are complimentary during set afternoon and evening hours, pre booked at the spa, which is a nice way to earn your dinner. The treatment side covers massages from Swedish to Thai, facials, body treatments and beauty services, and couples can book a shared ritual with steam and a private jacuzzi. The spa opens from 10am to 8pm and treatments are payable locally.
The gym is properly kitted out with Technogym equipment, treadmills, bikes and cross trainers, opens from 8am to 8pm and looks over the pool, which is better motivation than a mirror. A fitness studio runs classes, and yoga and stretching sessions feature on the daily programme, usually in the gentler morning hours. Between the lap pool, the gym and the jetty snorkelling, it is an easy hotel in which to stay active without ever feeling organised.
Entertainment at an adults only hotel lives or dies by pitch, and this one gets it right. Days are deliberately low key: the animation team keeps things light around the pools with games and aqua sessions for those who want them, and leaves everyone else in peace with a book. There is no stage school mini disco at 8pm sharp, because there are no children to fill it.
After dark the resort finds its second gear. Live music and singers feature most nights, with DJ sets and themed party nights through the week, and the atmosphere is sociable rather than raucous.The Waves Disco keeps the night going late, the Pilli Pilli Bar pours until the small hours, and the 24 hour Lobby Bar catches everyone else. Guests consistently tell us the bartenders and entertainment crew are a highlight, and on quieter nights the terrace and a nightcap are entertainment enough.
