Set on a low plateau above the sheltered, crescent-shaped waters of Coraya Bay, the five-star Jaz Lamaya Resort is one of the most established addresses on Egypt’s southern Red Sea coast. Part of the Madinat Coraya complex a short drive south of Marsa Alam International Airport, it trades the bustle of the larger northern resorts for a calmer, more secluded setting where the desert meets a strikingly clear bay.
The resort is designed in a warm Moorish style, with sand-toned buildings, shaded terraces and gardens that step gently down towards a generous private beach. Sea-view balconies look out over the bay, and the architecture lends the whole property a relaxed, unhurried feel that suits an easygoing beach holiday.
Offered on an All Inclusive basis, Jaz Lamaya brings together comfortable accommodation, several pools, varied dining and a genuine focus on the water. With its own stretch of beach, a protected bay and an offshore house reef, it is a natural choice for guests who want to combine relaxation with snorkelling and diving in some of the Red Sea’s most rewarding waters.
Accommodation at Jaz Lamaya is spread across low-rise blocks set among the gardens, with most rooms enjoying either a sea or garden outlook from a furnished balcony or terrace. Interiors follow the resort’s warm, Moorish-inspired styling and offer a comfortable, restful base after a day on the water.
The resort offers a range of room categories to suit different requirements:
Rooms are generally fitted with air conditioning, an LCD television, a safe, a minibar or fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and a private bathroom. Exact sizes, layouts and views vary by category, so we are happy to confirm the right room type for your stay.
Water is at the heart of life at Jaz Lamaya. The resort has three freshwater swimming pools set within the gardens, two of which are heated during the cooler winter months, along with ample sun terraces and shaded seating for unwinding between swims.
The resort fronts its own private beach on Coraya Bay, with sunbeds and direct access to the sea. The sheltered bay is well known for its offshore coral house reef, which can be reached from the beach or jetty, making it easy to snorkel or dive straight from the shore.
An on-site dive centre, Coraya Divers, operates from the bay and offers diving and snorkelling for a range of experience levels; courses, guided dives, equipment hire and boat trips are available locally and are charged separately from the board basis. Motorised watersports and excursions can also be arranged.
For relaxation and activity on land, facilities include:
Jaz Lamaya Resort sits within the Madinat Coraya complex on Coraya Bay, on Egypt’s southern Red Sea coast. It is conveniently close to Marsa Alam International Airport (RMF), at roughly five kilometres or around ten to fifteen minutes by road, making for a short and easy transfer at the start and end of your holiday. The town of Marsa Alam itself lies some way further south along the coast.
The real draw of this stretch of coastline is what lies beneath the surface. Coraya Bay’s protected house reef is regarded as one of the finest in the area and can be explored directly from the resort’s beach or jetty. A little further afield are some of the Red Sea’s most celebrated dive and snorkel sites.
Trips to these sites can be arranged locally through the dive centre and are charged separately. A beach stay here pairs beautifully with a Nile cruise to round out an Egypt holiday, taking in the great temples and tombs aboard Classic Holidays’ own ships, the MS Royal Princess or the Classic Blue Shadow IV.
Dining at Jaz Lamaya centres on a generous main buffet restaurant, where international and Egyptian dishes are served across the day, with themed evenings and live cooking stations adding variety. Tables on the terrace look out towards the bay, making it a pleasant spot for a relaxed dinner.
For a change of scene, the beachside Seahorse restaurant serves a la carte menus with an emphasis on seafood, pasta and lighter dishes in a more intimate setting by the water. A la carte dining may be subject to a reservation and is not necessarily part of the All Inclusive board, so we recommend confirming the arrangements for your dates.
Several bars are dotted around the resort, including a relaxed lobby bar, a pool bar and a rooftop bar with views over the resort and sea. Selected drinks are included on the All Inclusive board; premium and imported brands may carry a supplement.
