The resort is built around five outdoor swimming pools, which are reported to be heated, giving plenty of space to find a quiet corner or settle near one of the pool bars. Sun loungers and parasols are provided throughout, and the long private beach runs directly along the Ras Dory shoreline.

SUNRISE Anjum Resort sits at Ras Dory on the Red Sea coast within the Marsa Alam region of Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate, with the desert rising behind and the reef just offshore. The nearest airport is Marsa Alam International (RMF), roughly 85 to 95 kilometres away by road, with transfers typically taking around an hour and a half or so depending on traffic and the route.

Marsa Alam is one of the Red Sea’s finest areas for life beneath the surface, much of it reachable on a day trip from the resort. The house reef and sheltered bays nearby are ideal for easy snorkelling, while there is world-class diving within reach.

Diving and snorkelling nearby

• Elphinstone Reef a celebrated offshore reef known for dramatic walls and drift diving, best suited to experienced divers.
• Abu Dabbab a shallow bay famous for its resident green turtles and the rare chance of seeing dugongs, lovely for snorkelling.
• Sha’ab Samadai (Dolphin House) a protected lagoon where wild spinner dolphins are often seen, with managed zones to safeguard them.

The choice covers international, Italian and Asian cuisine, with a wide spread at the buffet and cooked-to-order dishes at the speciality restaurants.
